CHIME De&I Committee

Monthly Webinars

January 2023 - December 2023

To provide their membership base of providers and vendors with actionable resources, CHIME’s DE&I Committee generates webinars, events, and collaboration opportunities to ultimately assist healthcare IT leaders in supporting their DE&I efforts in the communities they serve. As a featured membership benefit, the ultimate goal of DE&I Committee Webinar series and events is to give healthcare IT leaders tools that yield equitable outcomes for the diverse communities their organizations serve.

As a support staff team leader, I co-led a group of 20+ hospital executives from across the U.S., in the creation of and development of eight (8) 1-hour DE&I-heath-IT-focused webinars in 2023. The following denotes my essential duties as lead instructional designer and webinar co-facilitator:

  • Conduct and reference polls, surveys, and interviews to develop 2023 DE&I Webinar Topic Calendar

  • Develop performance objectives for each webinar

  • Generate and develop content for each webinar

  • Research and discover SMEs to serve as panelists and featured speaker during the live presentation

  • Develop the graphic design presentation for each webinar

  • Develop webinar topics, outline, and panel questions

  • Facilitate tech/equipment check and general housekeeping protocols for each new guest SME

  • Interview and collaborate with SMEs to qualify each webinar outline for relevancy and accuracy

  • Rehearse webinar delivery with co-facilitator

  • Draft recaps for LinkedIn Social Media postings

After conducting polls, surveys, and interviews and collaborating with SMEs and co-workers, I recruited the following speakers, developed the following sequence of topics, and developed graphic design presentations to cover a wide range of conversation points and resources for each webinar meeting of approximately 20-30+ attendees:

Communication: Language Describing Populations Served, Barriers and more

OCTOBER 2023

In this webinar Nikki Donnelly and I led an impactful conversation regarding the importance of language describing populations served, barriers, and more. We introduced the audience to the impact-potential of being precise and considerate when selecting language to describe the populations that health organizations and their health IT leaders serve.

Individuals Experiencing Homelessness and Healthcare Implications

DECEMBER 2023

In our final CHIME DE&I Dialogues webinar of 2023, Nikki Donnelly and I led a conversation with Joe Camillus, COO of Boston Medical Center (BMC), regarding serving those experiencing homelessness and the healthcare implications therein. With valuable insights from our attendees, Joe highlighted how we, as IT leaders, can influence the continuum of care for the homeless in our communities.
