PROFESSIONAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - LIFE SKILLS

This is an intensive, six-week certificate program based on the achievement of ten targeted, overall competencies and thirty-four sub-competencies. This course provides students with a basic introduction to the world of healthcare and its associated systems and technologies. This includes an understanding of internal and external factors that influence decision-making and systems design. The purpose of this program is to train professionals in developing and strengthening the management of healthcare information technology in order to improve the quality of services provided by healthcare organizations. The Program Competencies are divided across the following areas: Professional Skills Development Training, Healthcare Foundational Knowledge Healthcare People, Healthcare Processes, and Healthcare Technology.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TRAINING
The professional skills development course series will include weekly classes in each of the following categories:
Life Skills
Communication Skills
Hot Topics
People Skills
Team Skills
For the Spring 2021 Cohort, I developed and provided instructor-led training to equip learners in the “Professional Skills Development Training” area with Life Skills and competencies.
These interactive 30-min instructor led sessions occurred according to the following outline:

Along with attending the class, each student is required to participate in an end-of-week online discussion connected to the topics discussed. Students are graded on this participation on a pass/fail basis.
QUIZZES/KNOWLEDGE CHECKS
Students are given a 10-question multiple choice exam on each course. The quizzes are timed with a 20-minute maximum allotted time limit. Students must pass each individual quiz with 80% or better.
