PROJECT CLIENT: ASL Creative Services and the Women’s Foundation of Alabama

PROJECT ROLE:
Instructional Designer / Instructor / Workbook Developer / Evaluator

In partnership with ASL Creative Services, I was consulted to iterate on learnings discovered in Cohort I (see below) by continuing to provide summative evaluation on learner-cohort experience and program effectiveness (delivered in a virtual and in-person hybrid format containing both synchronous and asynchronous instruction) on the second iteration of the premiere Home-Based Childcare Accelerator Program. Based on learner feedback from Cohort I, the Childcare Accelerator added 4 more additional modules to integrate more comprehensive subject matter that equips our students for business success. Those 4 additional modules included:

  1. Financial Management Fundamentals

  2. Funding Opportunities and Loan Preparation

  3. Understanding Your Digital Footprint (see details below)

  4. Leadership Skills for Childcare Providers

After interviewing stakeholders and conducting a needs assessment (gap analysis), I synthesized qualitative and quantitative data obtained from pre-assessment, mid-point, and post-assessment questionnaires. I provided high level observations and conclusions on critical KPI’s to the Women’s Foundation of Alabama (WFA) project stakeholders on the experiences of Cohort II to optimize the experiences of Cohort III.

Critical points of consideration included how well learning objectives (as identified by WFA and SMEs), course instruction, and assessments aligned to prepare local childcare providers with the relevant business acumen that enables them to sustain (according to DHR codes and standards and best practice) and competitively scale their businesses.

INSTRUCTOR: Understanding Your Digital Footprint

In addition to providing evaluation support, WFA and ASL sought to leverage my expertise as a web designer and marketer to provide instructional materials and in-person class facilitation on Understanding Your Digital Footprint. This comprehensive lesson provides insight into how online behavior, digital presence, and digital marketing can influence the success and reputation of childcare businesses, as well as communication with parents and communities. The course objectives of my module included:

  1. Define digital footprint and describe why it is important

  2. Describe how to leverage branding and marketing for your digital footprint

  3. Communicate the key digital marketing components of your digital footprint

At the of the instruction learners, were equipped with the skills to build a wix.com landing page for their childcare business, and demonstrated their mastery by submitting their pages into the course LMS.

COMPANION WORKBOOK

From learnings gathered from student-questionnaires and at the behest of WFA stakeholders, the Childcare Accelerator has evolved yet again to the integration of a companion workbook, so that the courseware can be mobile and distributed in other city centers. Based upon SME literature, course documentation, my instructional design and multimedia production expertise, I am in the process of developing a 12-module Workbook (to be published in FALL 2025) that encapsulates instruction helping learners to achieve learning objectives, as well as assessments and supplementary interactive learning moments such as: instruction through storytelling, scenarios, content presentation, custom Infographics, reflection writing, template matrices, module assignments, and more!

In this workbook, I custom designed each page so that no two pages are alike and so that learners are guaranteed to engage each new page with meditative flow and contemplation, while being held accountable for knowledge acquisition by completing assignments at the end of each chunk to demonstrate mastery.

As revealed in the PowerPoint PDF below, key takeaways were summarized in Impact Summaries and Lessons Learned.
