Online spiritual growth classes

Leveraging e-learning principles and adult learning theory, I led a 5-person team through the development and implementation of the organization’s first installation of Online Spiritual Growth Classes.

From pre-existing, face-to-face classroom curricula, we constructed an interactive e-learning experience for 2 major courses (consisting of 18 total modules), in which learners leave the instruction being grounded in foundational Christian principles.

Phase 1: lEARNING MANAGEMENT SYStem (lms) selection & stakeholder approval

Here is a proud moment the team and I enjoyed. We were excited for our learners, as we celebrated the launch of a program we spent almost a year developing.

Based upon stakeholder project needs and criteria, I led a research team in the discovery of several viable LMS candidates. Some of the main points of consideration included:

  • Able to support 500 individual learner accounts, Learner-paced, Native SIS, Rolling Enrollment, Single Sign-On, Tech Support, Cloud Storage, ADA Compliance, Analytics, etc.

After pitching our findings to stakeholders, a purchasing decision was made to work with Instructure’s premiere product.

PHase 2: cOurse development

Construct - Learner analysis / storyboarding / writing

LEARNER ANALYSIS SUMMARY:
Adult Learners who are Seekers, New Believers, or Growing Believers with at least a novice-level internet usage acumen.

Due to personnel constraints, when translating the pre-existing face-to-face material to an online experience, we requested the assistance of Construct (previously known as Proversity, a sister-company of Instructure/Canvas LMS). For a 6-month period, we served as subject matter experts (SMEs) when working with Construct to painstakingly translate face-to-face instructor outlines into a conversational, interactive online learning experience.

MEdia/asset development

To promote engagement and holistic course-automaticity, we collaborated with Construct to ensure that the modules were threaded with the following items:

  • Module Learning Objectives

  • Inclusive, Conversational Language

  • Explainer Videos

  • Prezi Presentations

  • Instructor Videos

  • Motion Graphics and GIFs

  • Infographics

  • Quizzes (with immediate feedback)

  • Scenario-based learning activities

This custom Mood Board I designed was used to inspire Construct’s Style Guide, and their subsequent multimedia production:

FEATURED ELEMENTS

In this instructor video, I walked our learners through simple techniques for studying the Bible.

For this explainer video, I wrote the script and provided the following visual guide for Construct to build a motion graphic that simplifies a complex Biblical concept in a succinct manner.
